Every couple approaches their wedding day in different and unique ways, but they always do what will make it special for them – one of the reasons why being a wedding photographer is so varied and fun!

For Christian & Anna, their wedding day started quite unconventionally – getting ready together at their home. It was lovely being able to capture morning shots of both of them, as well as their son and Anna’s mum, as they got stressed (Christian) or relaxed and enjoyed it (Anna) as a family. With Anna expecting their second child it was even more meaningful that they were celebrating the day together every step of the way.

When it came to heading to the Church they did it in style, hiring a vintage red double-decker bus to pick them up and then drive into Birmingham city centre to collect their guests. The Church wasn’t too shabby either! The Church of Holy Trinity and St Luke is one that I’ve not been to before, but it was certainly memorable – gilded ceilings are hard to forget!

Christian & Anna’s entrance was another unusual but beautiful detail – walking hand-in-hand down the aisle together. It wasn’t something that they had actually planned to do, but they said that it just felt right in the moment and you can’t argue with that. It was a Greek Orthodox ceremony and had many aspects to it, more than a traditional English wedding, and I can’t admit that I knew what they all meant but it was clear that they were all about demonstrating their commitment to each other.

The bus took everyone onto the reception at Marco Pierre White’s which is at the top of The Cube in Birmingham. A great place to view the city and the Champagne Bar was turned into a private dining room and they even had a little ball pool for the kids!

We found a little time in-between eating and the occasional rain shower to take some couple shots on the canal bridge on The Cube’s ground floor. They had plenty of wishes of congratulations from passers by and just having them spend some time ‘alone‘ as a married couple was lovely to photograph.

It was a wonderful day and Christian & Anna I wish you all the best for your future together, as three will soon become four! 😀

It’s great getting to know my couples and share in the uniqueness of their wedding day. If you’re planning your wedding and would like me as your photographer then it would be great to discuss your plans – get in touch!
